Those who gave food to all living things in this world are the ones who gave life. If we do alms, our vices, ignorance, arrogance (pride of self) will go away from us. God bless you. If you give alms, virtues will gather and if you give alms, knowledge will flourish. If you give alms, your sufferings will be removed.
Karna, who gained great fame in charity. Arjuna pierces Karna's chest with arrows in the Mahabharata war. However, Karna's life was not spared. His charity protects his head. Lord Krishna takes the form of a Vediya and asks Karna to donate all the merits that Karna has done so far. Dharmashastra says that the best of charity is Annadana. He is the one who solves hunger pangs, stimulates energy and appetite after the transformative power.
